Along the way, you'll walk through lush rainforest, visit steaming cracks and vents where volcanic gases escape from the earth, and enjoy breathtaking panoramic views from the floor of Kilauea caldera. Your guide shares insights about the park's history, volcanology, native plants, and wildlife, turning the hike into both an outdoor adventure and a meaningful learning experience.
Since Kilauea began erupting on December 23, 2024, volcanic activity has added a dramatic backdrop to the park. When conditions allow, guests may catch a glimpse of a glowing lava lake or lava fountain. Lava viewing is never guaranteed and always depends on weather, visibility, and current activity.

Step 1 - Meet at the Visitor Center: Meet at Volcanoes National Park Visitor Center to begin. Please note that the meeting location may change due to eruption conditions.
